The internationally known StatLock® Stabilization Device is manufactured by Bard® Medical, a division of C. R. Bard, Inc. NYSE:BCR based in Covington, Ga. C. R. Bard is a leading multinational developer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative, lifeenhancing medical technologies in the fields of vascular, urology, oncology and surgical specialty products. The StatLock® Stabilization Device was created by Steve Bierman, M.D., based on his clinical experience as an emergency room physician. Dr. Bierman wanted to minimize the everyday problems with vascular access and securement as they were traditionally practiced including a high rate of avoidable patient complications from traditional forms of catheter stabilization. After forming Venetec International in 1996, Dr. Bierman oversaw the creation of StatLock® Stabilization Devices that anchor a variety of catheters and tubes. Venetec International quickly became the world leader in catheter stabilization. National nursing standards of the Infusion Nurses Society further validated the value of manufactured catheter stabilization devices like the StatLock® Stabilization Device. The INS standards now recommend that "whenever feasible, using a manufactured catheter stabilization device is preferred." While INS does not endorse or recommend specific products, as of today, the StatLock® Stablilization Device is the only evidencebased catheter stabilization device that meets these national standards. Recognizing the vast potential of StatLock® Stabilization Devices to continue improving patient care around the world, C. R. Bard Medical Division acquired Venetec International in 2006. Bard® StatLock® stabllizations devices are used by hundreds of healthcare facilities worldwide. |
